HYPER DISINFECTION OF FLOODED AREAS BEGINS In order to protect the health of the population of Palilula flooded areas, the expert team of the Public Health Institute Nis started on Tuesday, April 28 the action of hyper disinfection of the areas and facilities in Novo Selo, that were under water during the recent floods. "Because of the rain and wet land, currently can not be treated courtyards and environment that were under water, said Mihajlo Spasić, a doctor at the Nis Institute, so this action, in the next few days, will be from the inside covered with disinfection about hundred housing units. President of Palilula Municipality, Boban Džunić, with his associates, visited this village and with the villagers spoke about the floods, the state of the environment and the health of the population. In order that water would no longer be flooding this and other areas of our community it is necessary, reminded the president Džunić, to complete soon the collectors and offer the appropriate solution to protect against flooding. The inhabitants say they now have a problem with mosquitoes and snakes. We are concerned about the electricity bill, says Ljubisa Stamenović, which will certainly be bigger for the pumps working 24-7 more than 22 days. Regarding the Report of the Institute, which is made at the request of the municipality of Palilula, that "there is a risk to the health of the population in terms of: the occurrence of intestinal infectious disease through poor hygienic conditions of water from flooded individual facilities, the health of unsafe food from flooded arable land and contact, a panel discussion was organized in the village of Cokot and imminent and intensive medical and educational work with the population in the flooded area is also planned soon.
